Have you ever stopped to think about your motivation for the
many choices in your day? Have you
ever stopped to think about how your motivation affects the results you have in
your life?
Here are a few scenarios to think about:
Do you workout because you are afraid of being
overweight and out of shape or do exercise because you love and respect your
body? Do you eat organic food
because you are afraid of disease or because you love to give yourself the best
nutrition you can? How about with
your family – do you help your kids with their homework because you are afraid
they will fail on their own or do you help them because you love them and want
to see them succeed? Finally, do
you say “yes” to something because you are afraid of letting the other person
down, afraid of how they may react if you say “no” or are you saying “yes” because
you enjoy the activity and spending time with that person?
Fear and love cannot exist together. When you make decisions during your
day, are you making these decisions out of fear or because you love yourself
and are passionate about life?
This will make all the difference in the quality of your life! Anita
Moorjani, author of “Dying to Be Me”, explained it to me this way “It’s not
about being positive, or funny, or the law of attraction – it’s about the
extent of how you love and value yourself. When we feel love and passion for ourselves then the choices
we make (to exercize, eat healthy, etc.) will help us to have that in our
lives.” Our mind is very powerful
and fear-based decisions have a completely different impact on our physical and
mental health. We may not see the
impacts immediately, but those fear-based decisions are slowly affecting us, in
one way or another!
So where do you stand on the LOVE/FEAR line? I suspect that many of you, like me, will
admit both are active in your life, depending on the situation. Starting now, I challenge you to get
really mindful when planning your week and making decisions throughout your
day. Pay attention to your self-talk
and commit to use the mindset of LOVE versus FEAR. Doing so will bring you one step closer to your goals and
creating the Best Version of You!
